Hello David’s/BAR attendees,

This testimony happened during the BAR2026 retreat on Day 3.

I am an online DGC member, and this is my first time testifying. There have been many testimonies, but I have not been sharing them (I might have been under attack, but I have escaped thanks to the teaching on testimony).

So,

I recently completed my third year of university, and throughout this season, I have also been working with the Government. I want to testify that since I started working, it has been as though favour has shone like a light over my work. Even the small things I have done have been seen, valued, and made to look bigger than what they appeared to be.

Normally, a full-time student like me should not normally have accumulated this level of professional experience. But I am normal!

By the grace of God, I have almost two years of corporate and program-specific work experience while still being a student.

As a student employee, pay progression is usually determined by factors such as experience, student level, proficiency, and manager discretion. I had received an extension of my contract for another 8 months, but at that time, my manager did not mention anything about a salary increase.

During the DAY2 of the retreat, we applied pressure on our helpers. Before that time, I had a desire in my heart for a salary increase, but I had not mentioned it to my employer. In fact, I was hesitant to even pursue it because I was already being paid above what was expected for my level, and I knew that some colleagues who were in their fourth year or had more proficiency were earning less than me.

I had already received favour, and I did not want to become entitled or ask outside of God’s timing.

After the morning session, when I returned to work, Without me bringing it up, without me requesting it, and without any conversation from my side about salary, my manager called me into his office and informed me that he was giving me a salary increase. This is my second raise as a student within the space of a year working with them.

This situation was unusual because the increase was not something I negotiated for or pursued. It came after applying pressure on the helpers, after I had placed my desire before God.

I also want to emphasize that favour does not replace excellence. God has been teaching me that I still have a responsibility to work with diligence, humility, and integrity. The opportunities came from Him, but I must steward them well.
